Chandra Dosh (Upchar)
Chandra Mahadasha is formed when the Moon is closest to the ruling Nakshatra of a person, and since the Moon represents mother, emotions, nourishment, fertility and public life, the person becomes emotional, intuitive and concerned with home. A strong Chandra during the Mahadasha phase makes an individual wealthy, sensitive creative, fearless, wise and emotionally balanced. However a weak Chandra during this phase will lead to mental fatigue, lethargy, depression, fertility problems, sexual issues etc. br>
Chandra Dosh occurs during the weak side of the Moon in the Mahadasha period. Because of this dosh the relationship of an individual gets adversely affected and he/she may suffer from mental/physical pain.
There are several remedies for reducing or eliminating the malefic of Chandra or Moon. Any one of them or a combination of two or three would suffice to remove Chandra Dosh.
Gemstone: It is recommended to wear a pearl gemstone to remove Chandra Dosh or even to enhance the benefics of Moon. The weight of the gemstone depends on the strength of the Moon malefic. It should be worn on the little finger of the right hand on Mondays. The pearl should be sanctified by cleansing it with milk, ghee, curd, honey and then cleaning it with sacred water. The Chandra mantra should be chanted while doing the purification.
Fasting: Fasting or vrat is believed to appease the deities. It is said that fasting for nine consecutive Mondays will do away with the malefics of Moon.
Charity: Doing charity or daana to the needy is one way of removing the Chandra Dosh. A person can do donation as per his/her ability. One should donate rice, sweets, sugar, porridge (kheer) and white clothes. Silver and pearl may also be donated. White flowers, white crockery and milk which represents the expression of the Moon can also be given to one’s relatives.
Mantra Chanting: Chant the Japas or mantras of Lord Chandra to praise the God. The moola mantra of the Moon can be chanted for 108 times in one sitting.
